Day 13: "Does anyone have anything to suck on?" - DROOCHIE

As Steph cleverly said, everyone was PUMPED to head to the Jersey Shore (see what she did there? Fist pumpin’ like champs?), despite the early hour.  It helped that Danny ran to get Dunkin Donuts for our on the road breakfast.  I slept basically the entire six hour ride, so something interesting might have happened during the trip but you’ll have to go to someone else’s blog to find out about it.

We got to Jersey around 12, and after checking into the Empress, which is actually a gay hotel, we walked to the train station and after grabbing some food to go from the Windmill we began our journey to New York.  We had to take two trains and catch two subways to get to Yankee Stadium so we were glad when we finally got there.  Yankee Stadium seems very imposing from the outside; it’s really simple but also kind of regal at the same time.  The inside of the stadium was one of the more interesting to walk around in because it had a couple of museums and some really cool dedications to the more famous players.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of our seats because we couldn’t really see the big screen, but like Wrigley there were a TON of smaller flat screens in every section so if you didn’t have the best view of the big screen you could still see what was going on.  To the excitement of some class members who really dislike the Yankees, the Blue Jays managed to pull out a win with a final score of 7-3.

After the game we had to make the approximately two hour trip back to the Empress so we got home around 1 a.m.  Despite being tired five of us took a late night stroll on the boardwalk since we didn’t get to explore the beach earlier in the day.  That was fun until we realized we were totally in a scene from a horror movie (five college kids walking along a deserted boardwalk at 2 a.m.? we even passed an empty store with creepy flashing lights) so we rather quickly made our way back to the hotel.
