Day 4: "When you're stuck between a rock and a brick wall, you hit the brick wall."

We left Milwaukee today at 8:15 a.m. and got to Wrigley Field about an hour before the gates opened.  With so much time to kill, we looked through a Sporting store and walked around...a lot...and then got in line so that we could get our Cubs golf towels that were handed out to the first 5,000 fans.  Once those were procured, we went up to our seats, which, like the Brewers game, were about as high up as you can be in the stadium.  Wrigley is an interesting ballpark because it doesn’t have a big screen, or much of anything electronic, really, so it was definitely a different experience.  There was a lot of discussion after the game as to whether or not we liked it or if we preferred ballparks with more technology.  While the majority of the class missed the jumbo tron, there were a few that liked the old-school feel of Wrigley.

During the game a few of us bonded with some Cardinals fans sitting behind us and they were all really interested in our trip and wanted to hear all about it.  Kyle also made a “friend” who I can’t do justice by describing in this blog, but you should really ask one of us about it sometime.  It involves licking melted chocolate off of a sunscreen bottle and a passion for white cheddar cheez-it crumbs.  With regard to the game itself, the Cardinals won 9-1 (we all make predictions for the final score before the game begins and Danny’s for this game was 8-1! So close!).  The Cubs were just never able to catch up after the top of the second when the Cards scored five runs.  If you want to read what a detailed account of what happened in the game, I would recommend you read Danny or Madison’s blogs.  They wrote better game summaries than I have the memory for right now.

After the game we braved about two hours of Chicago traffic to get to our hotel (props to Stephanie and Danny for managing to not pee their pants..;) ) and then set out to find some dinner.  We walked to a mall close to the Westin and ended up at Claim Jumpers.  We wouldn’t recommend that you order their strawberry lemonade but the Widow Maker burgers are delicious.  When we were all done eating we headed back to the hotel to end the day with some group hottubbing and pool time (cross that one off of the trip bucket list!).

We were there so early we got to watch batting practice!
